Preshish Moments

role: musician / artist

I perform and write music as Preshish Moments. The focus of the project is the live manipulation of electronic sounds with custom hardware and software.

I built my first midi controller Splinter in 2006, when options were extremely limited and generally consisted of keyboards with a few knobs on them. I wanted to use the physical interfaces of DJ mixers and samplers to control software that was both flexible and powerful. It was important that LEDs built into the instrument could provide enough information to allow me keep my eyes off my laptop screen as much as possible during shows.

I won a laptop and machine music battle hosted by Mochipet’s Daly City Records in 2007 and released my debut solo album on that label the following year. I performed solo sets at festivals and shows, had a piece performed the chamber ensemble Alarm Will Sound and released an ep, remixes, and singles over the next few years before moving from San Francisco to New York in order to focus more on collaborative work.
